Job Summary:
The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Administrative Litigation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of the Homeless Litigation and Program Counseling Unit, you will provide administrative support to the unit's attorneys and staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit's daily activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the unit with daily administrative needs, including coordinating and maintaining administrative assignments and requests.
- Liaise with other agency units, City and State stakeholders, and advocate groups as necessary on administrative matters concerning Fair Hearings and NYS court proceedings.
- Support the investigative and litigation functions of the unit, working closely with Unit attorneys to collect, review, and analyze data for inclusion into responsive pleadings and reports.
- Monitor adherence to litigation deadlines, hearing and court appearances, reporting criteria, and post-decision compliance.
- Track outcomes and results of judicial and administrative litigation, preparing and distributing periodic reports.
- Conduct research and consult with program staff as needed to obtain responsive data and materials.
- Prepare drafts of confidential correspondence, memoranda, drafts, final letters, and reports for the Deputy.
Requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty.
- Or an associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described above.
- Or a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described above.
