Salary: $34/hour

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Engineering Associate role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our generation, electric transmission, and distribution systems. This position encompasses various engineering responsibilities related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operational activities of our power plants, transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, gas systems, control centers, and more. Responsibilities also include continuous monitoring and balancing of energy flow, as well as addressing system disturbances, ensuring reliable electric and gas services for our customers.

The Engineering Associate 1, specifically in the Communications Engineering and Maintenance domain, is tasked with the secure, dependable, and economical design and upkeep of our operational technology (OT) communication networks and systems, which include wireless and fiber infrastructure. Key duties involve planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and providing operational support for our OT communications network that underpins the transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, gas systems, generation systems, emergency radio systems, control centers, data centers, and corporate networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established procedures and processes while performing assigned tasks under direct supervision.
  • Engage in minimal financial responsibilities.
  • Support the development and implementation of internal work processes.
  • Assist in gathering information for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in seminars and continuing education opportunities for professional growth.
  • Contribute to various project and process improvement initiatives as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, coordinating with related areas to complete tasks and projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to engage with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Capacity to manage multiple work activities with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proactive approach to identifying needs and utilizing research skills to resolve issues as necessary.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties and occasional unscheduled work as experience allows.
  • Occasional travel may be required for off-site work, seminars, and inspections.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, email, and scheduling tools.
