Job Overview

Spine Institute of Central Florida is seeking a dedicated Orthopaedic Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Spine Practice.

Our facility is a thriving, fast-paced Orthopaedic Spine Surgery practice, focusing on comprehensive non-surgical and surgical management of spinal conditions. Our Physician Assistants are specialized, detail-oriented, and highly trained professionals who deliver exceptional care under the guidance of our fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeons.

Key Responsibilities:

The Physician Assistant will be responsible for conducting thorough orthopaedic spine examinations, ordering necessary diagnostic imaging, administering interventional injections, and developing specialized rehabilitation programs tailored to spine care, all under physician supervision. We emphasize a collaborative approach, leveraging a multidisciplinary team of experts to optimize recovery for our patients.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts comprehensive history and physical examinations, including post-operative follow-ups.
  • Performs casting for various extremity fractures.
  • Administers joint injections using fluoroscopy/ultrasound and in-room techniques.
  • Reviews imaging studies, including MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, and whole-body bone scans.
  • Collaborates closely with Orthopaedic spine surgeons for imaging assessments, patient symptom evaluations, and medical/surgical planning.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate imaging and diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluates pre-operative testing results and develops suitable care plans.
  • Completes thorough pre-operative reviews of patient records.
  • Possesses foundational knowledge of imaging relevant to lumbar and cervical spine.
  • Manages the worker's compensation and LOP patient processes within the clinic.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Florida PA-C license is required.
  • Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, diagnostic imaging systems, and EMR.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive understanding of orthopedic, neurological, and spinal anatomy and physiology, with the ability to perform relevant examination techniques.
  • Comfortable managing pre- and post-operative patients in a surgical environment.
  • Knowledge of contraindicated medications and supplements prior to surgery.
  • General knowledge of common medications used in pre- and post-operative management, including antibiotics and pain management therapies.
