Job Overview

Position: Radiology Physician Assistant (RPA) or PA-C

The Radiology Physician Assistant will be responsible for conducting breast and thyroid biopsies, as well as performing arthrograms, pain management injections, fluoroscopic procedures, and aspirations.

This role also encompasses additional procedures within the PA's scope of practice, such as paracentesis and thoracentesis, as deemed appropriate by the practice.

The RPA or PA-C will oversee and interpret DEXA scans for Osteoporosis, ensuring accuracy before the radiologist finalizes the report.

Monitoring for contrast reactions in designated facilities is a critical responsibility. The candidate must possess a thorough understanding of contrast reactions and be prepared to provide immediate recognition and treatment. Additionally, the RPA or PA-C should be capable of managing emergency protocols under the guidance of the radiologist.

In this role, the RPA or PA-C will also provide clinical supervision for the radiology clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Radiologist with biopsies, including post-biopsy dressing, wound care, and emergency patient situations.
  • Coordinate consultations with other medical services as necessary.
  • Engage actively in patient and family education, serving as a liaison between referring physicians and families.
  • Demonstrate exceptional assessment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Exhibit strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Possession of a DEA License is preferred, enabling the ability to prescribe premedication for contrast reactions and allergies.
