EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current Certification.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with personal computers and word processing software is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct initial consultations and provide ongoing care during follow-up visits for assigned patients in the office.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement care plans under the supervision of the attending physician.
  • Document all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the medical record accurately.
  • Refer patients for consultations as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on health-related topics.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via telephone and provide appropriate medical guidance or referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient treatment.
  • Provide follow-up and health maintenance care, including medication adjustments as per established protocols or specific instructions from the attending physician.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with the treatment plan.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
  • Complete necessary forms such as disability and workers' compensation as required.
  • Review patient reports for any unusual findings (e.g., MRI reports, lab results, consultations from other physicians).
  • Engage in regular staff, clinical, and provider meetings.
  • Perform any additional duties or projects as assigned (e.g., developing educational materials for patients, managing clinical supply orders, overseeing employee health, etc.).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Ability to observe, assess, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to conduct medical examinations using standard medical practices.
  • Knowledge of patient care documentation and patient histories.
  • Ability to uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
  • Ability to educate patients and/or families regarding disease processes and proper care instructions.
  • Knowledge of primary care principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Awareness of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in the field.
  • Understanding of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, including indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and administration protocols.
  • Ability to communicate medical information clearly to both professionals and the public.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is typically performed in a standard office environment with frequent telephone interactions.
  • Occasional evening work may be required.
  • Moderate physical activity is expected.
  • Ability to handle average-weight objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Fast-paced clinical medical environment (office).
  • Incumbent may be required to assist in moving patients as needed.
  • Prolonged standing and walking may be necessary.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations requiring adherence to extensive safety protocols, including the use of protective equipment.
  • Exposure to blood or blood-borne pathogens will necessitate OSHA training.
