Welding Specialist for Shipyard Projects

As a skilled Welding Specialist, you will be responsible for joining structural steel components used in the construction and repair of ships. You will work in a dynamic shipyard environment, often outdoors, and may be required to work at heights or in confined spaces. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all welded steel structures on board ships meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Main Responsibilities
- You will weld structural steel components, including frames, bulkheads, decks, and other components used in ship construction and repair.
- You will use hand and power tools, including saws, grinders, and drills, to prepare steel components for welding.
- You will operate welding equipment, including stick, MIG, and TIG welders, to join steel components together.
- You will use precision measuring instruments, such as levels and plumb bobs, to ensure that steel components are aligned and welded correctly.
- You will conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure that all welded steel structures meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
- You will follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational or technical school training in welding or a related field is preferred.
- You should have 3-5 years of experience as a welding specialist in a shipyard or marine environment.
- You should have strong knowledge of structural steel components used in ship construction and repair.
- You should be proficient in the use of hand and power tools, including saws, grinders, and drills.
- You should have experience operating welding equipment, including stick, MIG, and TIG welders.
- You should have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- You should have excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- You should be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will also receive benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $65,500.
