About the Role

">

We are looking for an experienced fabrication specialist to work in a shipyard environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industry fabrication, including welding, cutting, and assembly. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • ">
  • Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts, according to specifications;">
  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding;">
  • Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision;">
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments;">
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemble them according to specifications;">
  • Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment;">
  • Produce high-quality welds, including water-tight penetrations with a variety of materials, including weld steel, stainless, and aluminum;">
  • Work with minimal supervision;">
  • Perform other duties as assigned;">
  • May indirectly supervise and/or train subordinates.">

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

">
  • ">
  • One to three years of experience as a flux core arc welder;">
  • Working knowledge of materials, methods, and appropriate work processes and techniques for fitting and welding steel and other materials;">
  • Knowledge of ship terminology, welding symbols, safety, OSHA, and ABS regulations;">
  • Must pass ABS American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) welding tests to be ABS Certified;">
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms or plans;">
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;">
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints;">
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools;">
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and employees;">
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure;">
  • Ability to read a tape measure;">
  • Maintain the confidential integrity of details pertaining to the shipyard.">

Estimated Salary Range

">

$55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
