Shipbuilding Specialist

At LaborOne Staffing, we are seeking a skilled Shipbuilding Specialist to join our team in Panama City, FL.

We are looking for an experienced Shipbuilding Specialist to work on various shipyard projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames. They will also be required to brace these parts in position within the hull of ships for riveting or welding.

• Laying out the position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using a scribe and hand tools.
• Locating and marking reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.
• Aligning parts with each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
• Marking the location of holes to be drilled and installing temporary fasteners to hold the part in place for welding or riveting.
• Preparing molds and templates for the fabrication of nonstandard parts.
• Installing packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.
• Tack welding clips and brackets in place before permanent welding.

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent, plus three to five years of ship fitting experience desired.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct marine vessels required.
• The ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
• The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Knowledge of the safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
• The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.

The estimated salary for this role is $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience.
