Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this role is to manage and uphold the cleanliness standards of the resort, while continuously seeking ways to enhance operational excellence. The role demands a commitment to providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring that their experiences are uniquely outstanding.

Core Duties:

  • Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate team members in accordance with company policies. Develop and document operational procedures for the Housekeeping department.
  • Collaborate with the Rooms Division and Engineering teams to oversee maintenance tasks related to guest accommodations and communal areas. Implement systematic programs to guarantee the upkeep of guest rooms and public spaces. Work closely with the Front Office to facilitate a seamless check-in experience for guests.
  • Manage inventory levels of guest rooms and housekeeping supplies, including conducting monthly inventory assessments. Establish guidelines to ensure efficient use of resort resources. Develop and oversee the lost and found protocol for the resort. Integrate training into daily operations while fostering a safe working environment.
  • Implement linen management and inventory protocols to ensure proper care of guestroom linens by the laundry service. Establish quality control measures to quickly identify and rectify any issues. Ensure linens are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Procure essential cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment while monitoring and managing expenses to align with the annual budget.
  • Track payroll hours and generate reports (e.g., forecasts, annual budgets, action plans) to assess departmental productivity.
  • Ensure that property operations comply with internal audit standards and quality scores. Uphold all approved company standards or seek necessary exemptions. Participate in room inspections to verify adherence to cleanliness and brand guidelines.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities that motivate team members to achieve and surpass standards, while promoting a culture of empowerment and loyalty.
  • Engage in meetings and activities that contribute to the success of the resort, providing hands-on support across various departments.

Additional Information:

Due to the dynamic nature of the hospitality sector, employees may be required to work flexible schedules to meet the resort's operational needs.

Consistent attendance is crucial for the successful execution of this role. Employees with irregular attendance may face disciplinary measures, including potential termination.

In our industry, teamwork is essential. There may be instances where operational staff require assistance to ensure guest satisfaction. In such cases, employees are expected to respond positively, unless it jeopardizes guest satisfaction, in which case the Rooms Division should be informed.

Supportive Responsibilities:

In addition to the primary functions, this position may involve performing various supportive tasks, with the distribution of time determined by the supervisor based on the company's specific needs.

  • Conduct and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Occasionally perform duties of supervised positions, including cross-training.
  • Report any unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy work area.
  • Foster positive relationships with other departments, team members, and guests.

Safety Requirements:

Compliance with safety regulations necessitates the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing tasks that may pose health or safety risks.

  • Clothing and Safety Equipment

Employees will receive training on the proper use and maintenance of assigned PPE. The resort provides the necessary PPE, and it is the employee's responsibility to report any defective or ill-fitting equipment to their supervisor.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, to prepare official documents and provide clear guidance to team members.
  • A minimum of two years of prior experience in housekeeping management.
  • Understanding of inventory management, scheduling, and productivity metrics.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with laundry processes.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and colleagues.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong time management skills.

Qualifications:

Education:

Preferred: Associate degree (2 years)

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years in housekeeping management.

Licenses or Certifications:

None required.

Grooming Standards:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance (specific standards available).
