Purchaser Role

The Purchaser will play a key role in coordinating Service material suppliers in North America, collaborating closely with global colleagues to procure comprehensive solutions for Vestas and our customers. This position will influence and involve cross-functional stakeholders to deliver world-class procurement strategies, increasing cost, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to, define, and deliver procurement strategies for Vestas Wind Turbines and other turbine OEMs' third-party requirements.
  • Closely collaborate with key local and global stakeholders within Service, HSE, SQD, and Quality Management, Engineering, Legal, and Supply Chain to optimize scope cost competitiveness.
  • Support new and existing regional supplier relationships and leverage internal stakeholder/category relationships to maximize global supplier partnerships.
  • Develop reporting materials, including PowerPoint presentations and business cases.
  • Create and promote cost reduction initiatives within the region.
  • Lead contract redlining and negotiations with suppliers.
  • Build supplier market intelligence and ensure supply base data is available to support business decisions.
  • Implement and monitor all aspects of supplier development, contracting, and buy-to-pay processes, including proper risk management.
  • Be a point of escalation and resolution for scope-related supplier issues.
  • Focus on developing local suppliers and ensuring domestic cost control.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in global supply chain management, engineering, or other related business studies.
  • 5+ years' work experience in procurement or supply chain areas.
  • Experience gathering market intelligence and understanding global markets, material trends, and politics.
  • Previous experience building business cases or strategies for categories, commodities, or supply chain pieces.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Advanced negotiation experience for supplier negotiations.
  • Industry experience in renewables, energy, manufacturing, or factory environments is desired.
  • Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solution-oriented, problem-solving skills.
  • Cross-cultural skills, working as part of an international team.
  • Ability to prioritize in a time-sensitive setting.
  • High-level business insight, understanding financial statements, cash flow, EBIT, inventory, and more.
  • Project management skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations and business cases.
  • Ability to develop a cross-functional team.
  • Aptitude for construction, transport of large goods, or technology, with basic understanding of construction, engineering, or manufacturing concepts.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, find opportunities, and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to travel (5%).

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, able to express oneself clearly in technical and non-technical terms in English.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and with various cultures, coordinating with different time zones.
  • Ability to effectively develop a cross-functional team, including internal, external, domestic, and international stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel as business requires.
