Overview

The role involves providing expert engineering support for sophisticated manufacturing processes that demand specialized qualifications and skills.

Responsibilities include project management, design, development, evaluation, and quality assurance for intricate engineering projects, consistently delivering innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

The position requires the application of mathematical principles, physical sciences, and advanced engineering technologies to achieve engineering goals. The individual will exercise significant discretion in determining the technical objectives of assignments and will be recognized as an authority in their field with extensive experience and capabilities. Work will be conducted under general administrative guidance, with some latitude for independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide Welding Engineering expertise to enhance daily welding operations.
• Utilize technical engineering skills to assess process efficiency, identify defects, conduct quality control, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Collaborate with clients to evaluate, apply, and develop intricate welding specifications.

• Create robust and repeatable joining procedures for high-precision components utilizing various welding techniques including Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Electron Beam Welding (EBW), Laser Beam Welding (LBW), Resistance Welding, and Vacuum Furnace Brazing.

• Prepare and present technical reports, communicating directly with customer subject matter experts.
• Draft weld qualification reports, weld procedure specifications, and operational instructions.
• Lead the process center as a Subject Matter Expert, while also outlining projects for growth and process enhancements.

Qualifications
• Must possess US citizenship to obtain and maintain a US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
• A minimum of six (6) years of progressive, hands-on experience in engineering roles within a technical or manufacturing setting.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Welding, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
• Undergraduate degree in Welding, Welding Technology, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Relevant experience in welding engineering or similar metal processing roles, typically four or more years preferred.
• Research and development experience in welding processes and/or metallurgy.
• Technical knowledge of stainless-steel welding metallurgy.
• Experience in developing and utilizing welding procedures for EBW, LBW, GTAW, Resistance Welding, and/or Furnace Processes.
• A strong commitment to advancing welding technology and processes.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new materials and processes.
• Proven capability to create and modify complex engineering and process equipment software.
