Position Overview
Burns & McDonnell's Oil, Gas & Chemical division is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to contribute to our dynamic team. As a 100% employee-owned organization, we pride ourselves on being recognized multiple times as one of the best companies to work for.
This division engages in a wide range of projects within the oil, gas, and chemical sectors, including gas processing facilities, midstream operations, refining plants, chemical manufacturing sites, and logistics infrastructures. The Senior Project Engineer will oversee comprehensive engineering design initiatives for both Design-only and Design-Build/EPC projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage engineering design efforts for both Design-only and EPC projects.
- Develop and maintain final engineering man-hour budgets.
- Implement and manage the Quality Program for engineering designs.
- Conduct independent quality and completeness reviews of engineering outputs.
- Direct field engineering services as necessary.
- Coordinate engineering design schedules, budgets, and progress tracking with project control teams.
- Manage client change orders, ensuring timely submission and processing.
- Lead the preparation of subcontract plans and bid packages for subcontractors.
- Oversee turnover and startup plans to ensure smooth project transitions.
- Facilitate vendor and fabrication shop progress management.
- Prepare and present monthly client status reports.
- Organize and lead project meetings, ensuring effective communication of status updates.
- Ensure adherence to company and site safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- A minimum of 7 years of direct project engineering experience in managing design efforts for Design-only and EPC projects.
- Expertise in a specific engineering discipline, with a foundational understanding of other disciplines.
- Exceptional skills in facilitation, team collaboration, organization, and problem-solving.
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and conciseness.
- Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to create and manage work plans, schedules, and budgets effectively.
- Leadership experience with diverse project teams is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
This position is full-time and may require travel up to 25% of the time.
