Role Responsibilities:

The Marine Engineering Assistant plays a crucial role within the Engineering Department, focusing on the upkeep and functionality of mechanical and hydraulic systems aboard our vessels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inspections, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Lubricating moving components of engines and machinery.
  • Effectively communicating operational requirements to team members and regulatory authorities.

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Assisting in the technical maintenance and safe operation of all machinery.
  • Adhering to engine room protocols and procedures.
  • Supporting the engineering department in various tasks.
  • Ensuring adequate supplies of fuel and essential engine-related materials.
  • Participating in the safe loading and transfer of fuel.
  • Monitoring daily operations of all machinery.
  • Performing routine maintenance and repairs under the guidance of the Chief Engineer.
  • Maintaining logs of lubricant and oil usage.
  • Analyzing cooling water conditions.
  • Assisting in the upkeep of machinery, steering systems, and air conditioning.
  • Participating in emergency response and firefighting training.

The Marine Engineering Assistant will also play a vital role in training new crew members on vessel operations and safety protocols.


Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A valid Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) with a minimum DD-4000 endorsement.
  • A valid U.S. Passport.
  • A valid USCG Medical Certificate.
  • A QMED Endorsement.
  • A valid TWIC Card.
  • The ability to pass both physical and written examinations.

Compensation:
The position offers a competitive salary of $500 per day for full-time engagement.
