Job Title: Senior Marine Mechanical Engineer

Leidos Gibbs & Cox is seeking a highly skilled Senior Marine Mechanical Engineer to join our team in supporting the USCG Ship Design Team (CG-459).

The mission of CG-459 is to provide complete lifecycle management of floating assets from concept design through delivery and sea trials. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and construction of new USCG acquisitions, including small boats, cutters, and icebreakers, directly alongside Coast Guard personnel.

This role focuses on the development and review of Propulsion system designs for USCG assets. We are looking for a candidate who can provide marine engineering support for both conventional and electric propulsion systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide marine engineering support for both conventional and electric propulsion systems.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for review of shipyard engineering documentation packages.
  • Perform feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and indicative propulsion designs for potential future vessel acquisition programs.
  • Perform calculations applying propulsion system design principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Interface directly with USCG and shipyard personnel.
Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship and must have an active secret clearance or be eligible to be granted one.
  • BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from ABET-accredited institution, related to field of work.
  • Minimum of 5 years' documented experience relating to the design of marine systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
