Job Title: Marine Coastal Engineering Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Marine Coastal Engineering Director to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers and designers to deliver complex coastal and waterfront engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers to deliver complex coastal and waterfront engineering projects.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to enhance service offerings for marine coastal resiliency within our existing client base.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Kiewit's Marine construction divisions.
  • Oversee department performance management process and development programs.
  • Effectively manage underperforming employees.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve customer satisfaction, quality of work product, and operating efficiencies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operating risks inherent in the business that could materially impact the company's reputation and/or operating results.
  • Develop and execute a communications plan to ensure department members are informed of strategy, shared goals, policies, practices, and programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Coastal, Civil, and/or Ocean Engineering or related field.
  • PE license or equivalent required.
  • At least 12+ years of engineering design experience related to urban-focused flood protection and resiliency projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex coastal and waterfront engineering projects, ranging from contract values of $10M+.
  • Current or recent experience in leading and managing an engineering team of five or more.
  • Promote business growth by enhancing service offerings for marine coastal resiliency within our existing client base.
  • Experience in working on teams of multidisciplinary, urban-focused flood protection and resiliency projects.
  • Experience designing and delivering projects that have marine or coastal components.
  • Experience with coastal engineering design in urban settings such as shoreline protection, waterfront parks, shoreline restoration, flood control, navigation facilities, bulkheads, dredging, and recreational boating facilities is a plus.
  • Ability to manage projects and progress ideas to execution in a complex environment.
  • Good negotiation, presentation, and persuasion skills.
  • Strong analytical ability along with the capacity to interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative, and a systems thinker.
  • Ability to manage and control quality, schedule, and budget performance of engineering teams.
  • Flexibility to frequent travel.
