Position Overview

At Stantec Consulting International Ltd., we are committed to shaping environments that positively impact communities. We are currently seeking a skilled Project Controls Analyst to enhance our dynamic team.

Role Summary

The Project Controls Analyst (PCA) is a crucial member of our project teams, collaborating closely with Project Managers (PMs), Project Accountants (PAs), and Business Center Leadership to ensure effective financial management of projects within the buildings sector, ultimately contributing to the company's profitability.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the Oracle Project BI Management Dashboard and other project management tools to support project performance and compliance with established frameworks.
  • Assisting in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures to facilitate project execution and oversight.
  • Supporting Project Managers in implementing work plans and analyzing them against established schedules, utilizing appropriate resource management applications.
  • Facilitating contract preparation and ensuring compliance through legal reviews, including the management of insurance certificates.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors by preparing agreements, managing change orders, and monitoring budgets.
  • Assisting in the preparation and tracking of change order requests for clients.
  • Reviewing project-related time and expenses, making necessary adjustments as required.
  • Supporting PMs in generating monthly financial reports and communicating billing strategies to Project Accountants.
  • Assisting in budget and schedule tracking, risk mitigation, and ensuring deliverables undergo the appropriate review processes.
  • Reviewing client invoicing requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting PMs with outstanding Accounts Receivable, coordinating with finance teams and clients as needed.
  • Supporting PMs in estimate-to-complete (ETC) requirements as necessary.
  • Collaborating with the Operations Project Controls Lead to train Project Managers and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong grasp of project accounting principles and an understanding of project profitability.
  • Ability to interpret and act upon contractual agreements.
  • Analytical mindset with the capability to synthesize data, make recommendations, and identify trends.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation within spreadsheets and database systems to generate reports.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, documentation, and effective time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple project tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a degree of autonomy.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Willingness to learn new software applications to enhance project delivery.
  • Reliability and strong teamwork capabilities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or finance preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Experience in an architecture or construction-related firm is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Oracle systems is advantageous.
