Financial Analyst

Position Overview

The Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial stability and operational efficiency of various academic departments and research units. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position is integral to the Budget and Financial Analysis team within the Dean's Office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes.
  • Oversee budget development and monitor financial resources to ensure optimal allocation.
  • Analyze financial variances and project future revenues and expenses.
  • Manage financial transactions and personnel funding distributions for assigned units.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in financial analysis or a related area.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial policies and practices within an academic context.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently gather and assess financial data.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on clarity and conciseness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with UC policies and practices.
  • Experience with financial systems such as UCPath and PeopleSoft.
