Job Summary

Midstate Radiology Associates is seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for operating MRI equipment and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on patients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform diagnostic MRI scanning procedures, selecting the correct technique and producing high-quality images to assist radiologists in diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Participate in complex invasive MRI exams, assisting radiologists in performing procedures using proper sterile technique and producing images for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.
  3. Start intravenous sites, assess existing sites, and inject intravenous contrast according to established protocols to assist radiologists in diagnosis.
  4. Maintain MRI equipment in good operating order, cleaning and disinfecting equipment and area after each use, and reporting any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisors.
  5. Demonstrate yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to age, condition, or other special requirements.
  6. Assess physician's orders and patient requisitions for completeness, reviewing requisitions, laboratory results, and patient charts to ensure correct procedures and protocols are performed.
  7. Document pertinent patient and exam information, storing computerized images on archive media for future reference or retrieval.
  8. Prepare examinations for interpretation by radiologists, including correct identification and processing, and accurately inputting data in the RIS to capture all charges and relevant information.
  9. Perform and document weekly quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system.
  10. Work effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  11. Provide clinical supervision and instruction to students, maintaining and understanding of policies, procedures, and the clinical competency process to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures.
Qualifications

Midstate Radiology Associates requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a graduate degree from an AMA-approved radiology program, registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT), and a CT state license. CPR certification may be required, and maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure is essential.

Desirable qualifications include at least one year's experience as a radiological technologist and an associate's or applied science degree in a related field.

Knowledge of working principles applicable to radiological technology, patient care standards, quality assurance principles, customer service principles, OSHA principles, and TJC standards of practice is essential.

Skills and abilities include operating MRI equipment, scheduling, organizing, and monitoring patient flow, communicating effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff, and co-workers, maintaining confidentiality of patient records, and possessing computer skills to meet departmental needs.
