Diagnostic MRI Technologist Trainee Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist Trainee to join our team at Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) in Meriden. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will play a crucial role in performing MRI procedures, assisting radiologists, and maintaining high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate MRI equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, following established protocols and guidelines.
  2. Assist radiologists in performing complex MRI exams, utilizing sterile technique and producing high-quality images.
  3. Start intravenous sites, assess existing sites, and inject intravenous contrast as needed.
  4. Maintain MRI equipment in good working order, cleaning and disinfecting after each use.
  5. Document patient and exam information, storing computerized images for future reference.
  6. Prepare examination for radiologist interpretation, setting up films properly and accurately inputting data.
  7. Perform quality assurance testing on equipment, adhering to established protocols.
  8. Work effectively as a team member, communicating with patients, relatives, medical staff, and coworkers.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; CT Radiographer License and graduate of an AMA-approved radiology program preferred.
  2. CPR certification and knowledge of OSHA principles and practices essential.
  3. Previous experience as a radiological technologist desirable, with associates or applied science degree in a related field.

Working Conditions:

May be required to rotate on night, weekend, and/or holiday call schedule; OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
