POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chief Procurement Officer is tasked with overseeing and directing the procurement and supply chain functions across all divisions of the organization, focusing on both direct and indirect acquisitions. This role involves spearheading the strategic sourcing initiatives that align with the company's long-term objectives, which encompass strategy formulation, market analysis, supplier selection and negotiation, contract management, implementation, performance evaluation, and risk mitigation. The CPO will also drive enhancements in supply chain operations, emphasizing supply resilience, compliance with initiatives and contracts, operational efficiencies, and optimal inventory management practices. Close collaboration with other senior leaders is essential to foster organizational growth and operational excellence.

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop and execute a procurement strategy that aligns with the company's strategic business goals, identifying opportunities to drive cost efficiencies, enhance operational effectiveness, and promote innovation.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the procurement team, cultivating a culture of excellence, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee the comprehensive Source-to-Pay process, which includes supplier identification, sourcing, contracting, procurement, and supplier management.
  • Implement industry best practices in procurement, focusing on process enhancements and digital transformation to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase transparency.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives across all spending categories while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring high service levels, quality, and reliability.
  • Manage the negotiation, drafting, and oversight of supplier contracts, ensuring favorable terms and adherence to legal standards.
  • Regularly report on procurement performance metrics, including savings, budget adherence, compliance, and other key performance indicators.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of purchasing records, guaranteeing that all procurement activities are thoroughly documented and compliant with company policies and regulations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least five years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, with a proven track record in team management, including recruitment, development, and mentoring.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to motivate and guide procurement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align procurement objectives with broader business goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Expertise in negotiating supplier contracts to secure advantageous terms for the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess data, evaluate supplier performance, and make data-driven decisions to optimize procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management software, ERP systems, and digital procurement tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Understanding of relevant laws and regulations to ensure ethical and compliant procurement practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate procurement strategies aligned with organizational values.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and organizational needs, demonstrating resilience in challenging situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for document creation, presentations, and data analysis.
  • Prior experience in procurement leadership across both direct and indirect categories.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is required; a master's degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness to travel at least 25 percent. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
