POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Chief Procurement Officer is tasked with steering and overseeing the organization's procurement and supply chain functions across all divisions, focusing on both direct and indirect acquisitions. This role involves spearheading the strategic sourcing initiatives that are in alignment with the company's long-term objectives, encompassing strategy formulation, expenditure and market analysis, supplier selection and negotiation, as well as contract development and oversight. The CPO will also champion enhancements in supply chain operations, emphasizing supply resilience, compliance with initiatives and contracts, operational efficiencies, and optimal inventory management practices. Close collaboration with fellow executives is essential to bolster the organization's growth and operational excellence.
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Develop and execute a procurement strategy that aligns with the company's overarching business goals, identifying and leveraging procurement opportunities to drive cost efficiency, enhance operational effectiveness, and foster innovation.
- Provide inspirational leadership to the procurement team, cultivating a culture of excellence, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
- Oversee the comprehensive Source-to-Pay process, which includes supplier identification, sourcing, contracting, procurement, and supplier management.
- Implement industry best practices in procurement, focusing on process optimization and digital transformation to improve efficiency, reduce expenses, and enhance transparency.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives across all spending categories while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Establish and nurture robust relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring high service levels, quality assurance, and reliability.
- Manage the negotiation, drafting, and administration of supplier contracts, ensuring favorable terms and adherence to legal standards.
- Regularly monitor and report on procurement metrics, including gross and net savings, budget adherence, compliance, and other performance indicators.
- Ensure the systematic compilation and maintenance of organized purchasing records, guaranteeing that all procurement activities are thoroughly documented and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least five years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, showcasing a minimum of 15 years of successful team and direct report management, including team building, recruitment, and mentoring.
- Strong leadership capabilities to motivate and guide procurement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous enhancement.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align procurement objectives with broader organizational goals.
- In-depth knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to inform decisions that support the company's financial health.
- Expertise in negotiating supplier contracts and agreements, ensuring terms that are advantageous for the organization.
- Strong analytical skills to assess data, evaluate supplier performance, and make informed, data-driven decisions that optimize procurement processes.
- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management software, ERP systems, and digital procurement tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including compliance and industry standards, to ensure ethical procurement practices.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate procurement strategies in alignment with organizational values.
- Ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and organizational needs, demonstrating resilience amid challenges and uncertainties.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for document creation, presentations, and data analysis.
- Prior experience in procurement leadership across both direct and indirect categories.
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is required. A master's degree in one of these disciplines or related fields is highly preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Willingness to travel at least 25 percent is necessary. Candidates will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
