POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Procurement Officer is tasked with steering and overseeing the procurement and supply chain management functions across all divisions of the organization, encompassing both direct and indirect acquisitions. This executive will spearhead the strategic sourcing initiatives that are in alignment with the company's long-term objectives, which include strategy formulation, expenditure and market evaluation, supplier selection and negotiation, contract formulation and oversight, implementation, performance assessment, and risk mitigation. Additionally, the CPO will drive enhancements in supply chain operations, focusing on supply resilience, compliance with initiatives and contracts, operational efficiencies, and optimal inventory management practices. This role necessitates close collaboration with other senior leaders to foster organizational growth and operational excellence.

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop and execute a procurement strategy that aligns with the organization's long-term business goals, identifying and capitalizing on procurement opportunities to drive cost efficiencies, enhance operational effectiveness, and promote innovation.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the procurement team, cultivating a culture of excellence, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee the comprehensive Source-to-Pay process, which includes supplier identification, sourcing, contracting, procurement, and supplier management.
  • Implement industry best practices in procurement, focusing on process enhancements and digital transformation to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and improve transparency.
  • Lead cost reduction strategies across all spending categories while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Establish and nurture robust relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring high service levels, quality, and reliability.
  • Supervise the negotiation, drafting, and management of supplier contracts, ensuring favorable terms and adherence to legal standards.
  • Regularly report on procurement metrics, including gross and net savings, budget adherence, compliance, and other performance indicators.
  • Ensure the organization and maintenance of comprehensive purchasing records, guaranteeing that all procurement activities are thoroughly documented and compliant with company policies and regulatory standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least five years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, including team building, recruitment, and mentoring.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to manage and motivate procurement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align procurement objectives with broader business goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to make informed decisions that support the company's financial stability.
  • Expertise in negotiating supplier contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms that benefit the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess data, evaluate supplier performance, and make data-driven decisions that enhance procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management software, ERP systems, and digital procurement tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Understanding of relevant laws and regulations to ensure ethical and compliant procurement practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate procurement strategies aligned with organizational values.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving market conditions and organizational needs, demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for document creation, presentations, and data analysis.
  • Prior experience in procurement leadership across both direct and indirect categories.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is required; a master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

MISC:

Willingness to travel at least 25 percent. Candidates will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
