The Senior Supply Chain Analyst/Production Planner plays a crucial role in orchestrating the production processes at Suncast Corporation. This position involves the meticulous planning of production lines and machinery, ensuring seamless operations that often extend around the clock within a unionized setting. Proficiency in materials resource planning (MRP) systems, spreadsheets, and databases is essential.

In this role, the analyst will be responsible for scheduling the necessary end products and their corresponding components. Collaboration with various departments, including purchasing, sales, production, quality assurance, and distribution, is vital. The analyst may also need to be available during evenings and weekends as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage daily with Customer Service to address imminent product shortages (1 to 2 week outlook).
  • Work alongside Forecasting to incorporate medium-term demand fluctuations into the Master Schedule (3 to 8 week outlook).
  • Formulate long-term pre-build strategies to optimize resource utilization.
  • Oversee safety stock levels and replenishment goals for individual stock keeping units (SKUs).
  • Maintain the production calendar.
  • Generate weekly reports on Inventory Changes and Demand versus Plan Valuation.
  • Compile monthly Finished Goods and Materials Inventory Change Reports for the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings.
  • Assemble Unique Materials Inventory Reports for Sales as necessary.
  • Conduct Build versus Scrap Analysis Reports on surplus and obsolete materials and products.
  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping practices established by Suncast Corporation.

  • Associate's Degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in production planning is necessary.
  • Capability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to inquiries from managers, engineers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts and the ability to apply these concepts to practical scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Effective communication skills are essential for achieving desired outcomes.
  • Expertise in computer literacy is required, with advanced skills in spreadsheets and databases for data analysis. Familiarity with AS400 query methods is a plus. Comprehensive knowledge of MRP systems is mandatory.

While executing this job, the employee will be required to sit, utilize a computer with a keyboard and mouse, communicate effectively, and employ active listening skills. Occasionally, the employee may need to walk within office and manufacturing areas and attend meetings in the production environment. Vision requirements include the ability for close vision to read printed reports and computer screens, distance vision, and the capacity to focus. This is a full-time position, and due to variations in production schedules, the employee may be required to be on call and work additional hours as needed.

While fulfilling these duties, the employee will primarily work in an office environment. However, as Suncast is a manufacturing entity, it will be necessary to enter the manufacturing area to complete certain tasks. Typically, office spaces are climate-controlled with a moderate noise level. Manufacturing areas may experience seasonal variations in temperature and humidity, with a generally moderate noise level. Safety equipment is mandatory when in manufacturing zones.
