The Senior Supply Chain Analyst/Production Planner plays a crucial role in orchestrating the production processes at Suncast Corporation. This position involves managing production schedules for operations that frequently run around the clock in a unionized setting. Proficiency in materials resource planning (MRP) systems, along with adeptness in spreadsheets and databases, is essential.

This role entails the direct scheduling of necessary end products and their associated components. The individual will collaborate closely with various departments, including procurement, sales, manufacturing, quality control, and logistics. Availability for on-call duties during evenings and weekends may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage daily with Customer Service to address imminent product shortages (1 to 2 week outlook).
  • Work alongside the Forecasting team to incorporate medium-term demand fluctuations into the Master Schedule (3 to 8 week outlook).
  • Formulate long-term pre-build strategies to optimize resource utilization.
  • Oversee safety stock levels and replenishment goals for individual stock keeping units (SKUs).
  • Maintain the production calendar.
  • Generate weekly reports on Inventory Changes and Demand versus Plan Valuation, and communicate findings.
  • Compile monthly Finished Goods and Materials Inventory Change Reports for the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings.
  • Assemble Unique Materials Inventory Reports for Sales as needed.
  • Conduct Build versus Scrap Analysis Reports on surplus and obsolete materials and products.
  • Adhere to and promote all safety protocols, quality benchmarks, and housekeeping standards established by Suncast Corporation.

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in production planning is necessary.
  • Capability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical guidelines, or regulatory documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from management, engineers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts and the application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and communicate effectively to achieve desired outcomes. Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
  • Expertise in computer applications is essential. The candidate must be proficient in advanced spreadsheet and database functionalities for data analysis and be willing to learn AS400 query methods. Advanced knowledge of MRP systems is required.

Occasionally, the employee may need to walk within office and manufacturing environments and participate in meetings in production settings. Vision requirements include the ability to see close-up for reading printed materials and computer screens, as well as distance vision and focus capability. This is a full-time position, and due to production schedule variations, the employee may be required to be on call and work additional hours as necessary.

In this role, the employee will primarily work in an office environment. However, as Suncast is a manufacturing entity, it will be necessary to enter the production area to complete certain tasks. Typically, office spaces are climate-controlled with a moderate noise level, while manufacturing areas may experience seasonal temperature and humidity variations. Noise levels in manufacturing settings are generally moderate, and safety equipment is mandatory when in these areas.
