Compensation:
Grade 12 Hiring Range: $20/hr. - $22/hr.

Role Summary:

As a Before and After School Program Facilitator, you will lead elementary-aged participants in various engaging activities, including sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning experiences. Our program is designed to provide a nurturing and secure environment for students outside the traditional classroom setting. You will play a crucial role in teaching teamwork and social-emotional skills while promoting skill development, creative exploration, physical activity, and most importantly, enjoyment.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement culturally relevant and age-appropriate activities aligned with the YMCA's Youth Development goals.
  • Supervise children to ensure their health, safety, and a positive experience.
  • Provide guidance to staff and volunteers overseeing children's activities.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding day-to-day operations.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain a developmentally appropriate environment, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Prepare and serve snacks, maintaining cleanliness in the snack area.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires regular communication, standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years old; 18 years or older preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in settings such as camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
  • Ability to exemplify YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
  • Experience in planning and executing group activities.
  • Completion of required training, including CPR/First Aid, and a cleared background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in a language other than English is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
