Position Overview:
The Quality/Reliability Engineer will spearhead the analysis of returned Generac products from the field. This role involves evaluating and documenting failure modes and aligning them with warranty claims. The engineer will also propose design enhancements and facilitate product improvements through collaboration with both suppliers and Generac manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough examinations of returned products to identify root causes of failures and discrepancies against claims.
2. Lead root cause investigations and engage cross-functional teams to uphold Generac's high standards for product performance and reliability.
3. Collect and analyze data on product failures to drive improvement initiatives and mitigate future defects.
4. Review engineering specifications and suggest design modifications to enhance reliability while adhering to cost and performance criteria.
5. Monitor equipment performance and assess historical data to identify sources of subpar component performance.
6. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment and performance expectations for our products.
7. Prepare detailed reports documenting failure modes and findings.
8. Manage the resolution of quality issues related to Generac's manufacturing and supplier networks.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality and/or Reliability Engineering.

Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Engineering.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in systematically analyzing electrical and mechanical components and systems.
- Familiarity with reliability failure modes and mechanisms.
- Capable of applying engineering expertise to enhance products, services, and processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Robust root cause analysis and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly, as well as use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The role involves standing and walking frequently, with occasional requirements to stoop, bend, or reach overhead. The employee may need to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position also involves significant computer-based work, necessitating periods of sitting and close visual focus. Occasional travel may be required.
