POSITION TITLE: Machinist Level II

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with colleagues in the department to fulfill the primary goal of producing high-quality components in a safe and timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, modify, and operate various CNC vertical machining centers and lathes to perform turning, boring, facing, grooving, milling, and drilling operations on diverse materials to achieve precise specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to tolerances on components, verifying personal work using measuring tools and documenting findings accurately.
  • Interpret routings, process documentation, and technical drawings. Determine appropriate speeds, feeds, tooling, and operational sequences. Validate and make minor adjustments to CNC programming.
  • Position, align, and secure workpieces, which may involve the use of locating fixtures. Select and prepare tools suitable for varying conditions and materials.
  • Engage actively in team efforts within the machining department and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with CNC controls, preferably Fanuc.
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience in operating hoists and cranes.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
  • A positive attitude and broad comfort zone are essential.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position reports to the Operations Manager.

WORK SCHEDULE:

2nd Shift - Tuesday to Thursday, 2 PM to Midnight.
