Position Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Nurse Manager to oversee our 29-bed Emergency Department. This department is committed to maintaining a safe and effective nursing staffing model, which is crucial for the overall hospital operations. Key features of our newly renovated facility include 10 expedited care spaces and 3 designated safe spaces. Responsibilities include:
  • Supervising and coordinating nursing staff activities across patient care units, ensuring that patient needs are met and evaluating nursing care and performance. Engaging in the planning of unit work and coordinating with other departments.
  • Organizing training programs for unit staff and participating in educational initiatives. Involved in the hiring process and responsible for the development and management of direct reports.
  • Delivering professional nursing care in accordance with Emory Healthcare guidelines and protocols during bedside assignments. Upholding our Care Transformation Model to foster an environment of trust, fairness, and confidentiality.
  • Ensuring the practice of bedside reporting and conducting monthly audits. Sharing knowledge within the team and adjusting clinical assignments based on patient care needs and staff competencies.
  • Managing patient flow effectively while maintaining high-quality care. Collaborating with the healthcare team for optimal patient placement based on clinical requirements.
  • Leading improvement initiatives in collaboration with unit leadership, supporting the development of evidence-based practice protocols.
  • Conducting documentation audits and fostering a culture of effective working relationships within a safe environment. Managing conflict and identifying service recovery strategies.
  • Monitoring service behaviors and addressing customer service issues that arise in daily operations. Engaging with patients and families through regular rounds.
  • Assisting in the investigation of customer service issues and identifying interdepartmental challenges affecting patient care.
  • Contributing to the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, focusing on staffing and patient flow issues.
  • Managing resources to ensure safe, cost-effective, and clinically appropriate patient care while adhering to established budgets.
  • Participating in departmental committees to address unit and system challenges.
  • Implementing service, quality, and productivity enhancements while optimizing staff utilization to improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Identifying needs for capital equipment and ensuring clinical efficacy in staffing models.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience.
  • Current RN license or temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing board required.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS may be necessary in certain areas.
