Position Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for a 29-bed Emergency Department. This department is dedicated to a safe and effective nursing staffing model, serving as a crucial component of the hospital's operations. Key features of this newly renovated unit include 10 expedited care spaces and 3 safe spaces.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate nursing personnel activities across one or more patient care units, ensuring patient needs are met and evaluating nursing care and performance.
- Participate in planning and organizing work for assigned units, coordinating with other patient care units and departments.
- Develop and implement training programs for unit staff, participating in guidance and educational initiatives.
- Engage in the hiring process and oversee the development, evaluation, and management of direct reports.
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with organizational guidelines and protocols during bedside assignments.
- Foster an environment of trust, fairness, consistency, and confidentiality among team members and with patients and families.
- Ensure the consistent practice of bedside reporting and conduct monthly audits.
- Share knowledge within the department and adapt clinical assignments based on patient care needs and staff competencies.
- Promote a safe, therapeutic, and customer-friendly environment, addressing patient, family, and staff concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to monitor and achieve quality patient outcomes, supporting evidence-based changes in clinical practice.
- Manage resources effectively to achieve safe, cost-efficient, and clinically appropriate patient care.
- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental committees to address unit and system challenges.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience.
- Current RN license or temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing board required.
- BLS certification required; ACLS may be necessary in certain areas.
