GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:


Under the guidance of the Expanded Learning Site Supervisor, facilitate and execute activities for the After-school Instructional Provider program; deliver assigned instruction for students from TK-12; oversee the supervision of students in after-school programs.


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:


This role is unique to afterschool program settings, with responsibilities tailored to the requirements of the Expanded Learning Program. Incumbents will implement program activities and provide instruction to TK-12 students, assuming responsibility for various tasks associated with program requirements.



REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Instruct TK-12 students in both individual and group settings, ensuring appropriate program ratios are maintained.
  • Employ effective classroom management, discipline, and instructional techniques.
  • Prepare daily activities; create and duplicate instructional materials and manage instructional equipment.
  • Monitor and assess instructional effectiveness and student progress.
  • Maintain daily attendance logs and other required records.
  • Ensure the learning environment is clean, organized, and conducive to health; daily storage of materials is necessary.
  • Supervise students during various after-school activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Foster regular communication with parents and encourage their involvement.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, planning, and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Curriculum and instructional strategies relevant to assigned responsibilities.
  • Correct usage of English in both oral and written forms.
  • Basic grammar, spelling, punctuation, and mathematics.
  • Simple record-keeping and filing methods.
  • The diverse cultures and languages within the community, city, and school district.

ABILITY TO:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Implement effective instructional activities in the after-school setting.
  • Learn and adapt to the procedures and functions of assigned duties.
  • Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and students.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Learn, comprehend, and apply relevant rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Be sensitive to the needs and cultures of TK-12 students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
  • Perform basic clerical tasks as needed.
  • Execute the essential functions of the position.
Hours: 12:30pm - 6:00pm

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 48 college units or successful completion of the NCLB test.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid California driver's license or state/federal identification.
  • First Aid Certification is desirable.
  • Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
  • Provide a clear TB test.
