POSITION OVERVIEW AND REQUIREMENTS:


Penn State University is looking for an Acoustic Systems Engineer to join our Sensor Analysis and Data Modeling Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL).

The mission of ARL is to innovate and develop solutions to complex scientific, engineering, and technological challenges in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intelligence Community (IC).

ARL is a recognized DoD SkillBridge partner and encourages all transitioning military personnel to apply.

Your Responsibilities:
Assist principal scientists with laboratory and field experiments, data collection and analysis, prototype development, and computational modeling and data comparison.

Design and implement data acquisition and visualization tools.

Write software using common engineering languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW.

Construct laboratory equipment and prototypes.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with basic electronic testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and signal analyzers.

Basic understanding of electronics and circuit design.

Experience in a laboratory setting.

Experience in data acquisition and visualization techniques.

Prior knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and/or LabVIEW.

Exposure to acoustics and signal processing concepts.

Experience with hardware design and/or embedded systems programming.

Familiarity with machining and/or drafting practices.

Your work will be conducted entirely on-site in State College, PA.
