Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an Advanced Electrical Engineer to join our Progeny Business Area. As a key member of a cross-functional team, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of advanced acoustic systems, including active sonar transmission, acoustic sensor reception and processing, as well as next-generation technologies.

You will be responsible for the design, development, production, integration, and life cycle support of these acoustic systems onboard U.S. Navy submarines. Your direct contributions will be critical to the success of our programs, upgrading and maintaining existing US Navy capabilities, building next-generation system components, and fostering innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits, including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, and network communication applicable to acoustic hydrophone systems.
  • Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems.
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware.
  • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems, including test software applications.
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions.
  • Design and build prototype cable assemblies.
  • Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies.
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer.
Requirements
  • Past Electrical Engineering experience in Analog to Digital (A/D) conversion with Digital Network interface, power systems, and/or analog electronics.
  • Proficiency in test, troubleshooting, and analyzing circuit card schematics.
  • Knowledge of common communication interfaces, such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols, such as TCP and UDP.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design, including signal integrity principles.
  • Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.

A Hybrid work schedule may be available but will require a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.

Target Salary Range

USD $107,520.00/Yr. - USD $119,280.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
