Job Description and Requirements

The Acoustic Data Science Department of the Applied Research Laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking research engineers focused on the areas of acoustics, signal processing, algorithm development, modeling, data analysis, and software engineering with an interest in undersea systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop modeling and simulation of sonar systems and analysis of sonar data collected by fielded sensors systems
  • Make comparisons between the measured data and sonar models, implementation of computer algorithms to extract information from the recorded data, and generation of reports and presentations to document findings
  • Work on real-time/high-performance implementation of the developed algorithms and/or models
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • Signal Processing
  • Acoustics
  • Algorithm Development
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
Preferred Skills
  • MATLAB, Python, C++, CUDA, time-series analysis, and signal processing
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent interpersonal skills
Additional Information

This position requires a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
