Position Title: Legal and Compliance Support Specialist
Reporting To: General Counsel and Compliance Officer
Classification: Non-Exempt
Location: FamilyCare Health Centers Administrative Office (travel to various FamilyCare locations may be necessary)
Role Summary:
The Legal and Compliance Support Specialist is tasked with delivering legal, compliance, and risk management assistance under the guidance of the General Counsel and Compliance Officer. This role involves managing projects, reviewing and drafting contracts, aiding in the formulation and upkeep of policies and corporate documents, conducting legal research, and fulfilling other assigned responsibilities.
This position requires proficiency in providing legal services, reviewing and editing documents, coordinating various facets of legal, compliance, and risk management initiatives, and ensuring adherence to deadlines. The specialist will handle confidential documents, necessitating a strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and critical thinking abilities.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; a Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution; and a minimum of two years of administrative experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree; two years of experience with healthcare-related laws and regulations, including HIPAA; two years of experience in healthcare compliance and/or risk management; and two years of experience drafting legal documents and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the legal and compliance departments in upholding risk management and compliance programs, particularly those related to HIPAA.
- Coordinate the schedule and activities of FamilyCare's compliance and risk management initiatives.
- Assist the General Counsel in organizing all legal, compliance, risk management, and HIPAA privacy matters.
Specific Duties:
In collaboration with FamilyCare's General Counsel and Compliance Officer, provide the following services:
- Collect and input documentation for policy research, contract management, claims management, and other legal, compliance, and risk-related matters.
- Compile information in response to discovery requests.
- Manage FamilyCare's contract management system, including uploading contracts, maintaining contract data, and overseeing user profiles.
- Oversee FamilyCare's incident reporting system.
- Conduct research and analysis as required.
- Review and edit documents, including policies, contracts, and reports.
- Maintain the General Counsel's task list and schedule.
- Provide updates on changes in laws and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the Human Resources department to support the Staff Training Program.
- Assist in the administration of risk management, compliance, and legal projects and maintain communication with FamilyCare leadership and staff regarding these initiatives.
- Develop and implement educational programs on risk management and compliance.
- Conduct organization-wide risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have any direct reports.
