Department Overview:

The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is a key unit within the Division of Academic Affairs, dedicated to fostering a student-centered approach.

This office plays a vital role in supporting the University's mission and strategic objectives by providing comprehensive financial aid services to students and stakeholders, including counseling and outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness and facilitating solutions for educational expenses at Cal Poly Pomona.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management:

Oversee and execute financial aid fiscal processing tasks to ensure effective management of funds and adherence to all regulatory standards.

Analyze and interpret regulatory updates impacting financial processing and cash management operations.
Formulate procedures and internal controls to guarantee accurate financial aid distribution to eligible students.
Conduct regular fund reconciliation for Title IV aid programs on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring timely completion.
Establish and uphold internal control mechanisms to ensure responsible fund management and compliance with regulatory obligations.
Review and process various reports to confirm ongoing award eligibility for students receiving financial assistance.
Collect and provide fiscal and award data to support various reporting needs.
Represent the fiscal unit's interests and objectives in office-wide committees.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and administrative experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
Proficient understanding of applicable theories, principles, practices, and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and effectively plan, organize, coordinate, and execute tasks in diverse situations.

Preferred Experience:
At least two years of experience in a financial aid office within a college or university setting.
Familiarity with Direct Loans, Federal Pell Grants, and California State Grant programs.
