Role Summary:

The Legal and Compliance Coordinator is tasked with delivering legal, compliance, and risk management assistance under the supervision of the General Counsel and Compliance Officer. This role involves managing projects, reviewing and drafting contracts, assisting in the development and upkeep of policies and corporate documents, conducting legal research, and performing other assigned duties.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of legal services, document review, and coordination of various legal, compliance, and risk management initiatives while adhering to strict deadlines. The role necessitates handling confidential information, demanding a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, organizational skills, and critical thinking.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; a Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution; and a minimum of two years of administrative experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree; two years of experience with healthcare-related laws and regulations, including HIPAA; two years of experience in healthcare compliance and/or risk management; and two years of experience drafting legal documents and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the legal and compliance departments in upholding risk management and compliance programs, including HIPAA-related tasks.
  • Coordinate the schedule and activities of FamilyCare's compliance and risk management program.
  • Assist the General Counsel in organizing legal, compliance, risk management, and HIPAA privacy matters.

Specific Duties:

In collaboration with FamilyCare's General Counsel and Compliance Officer, the following services will be provided:

  • Collect and organize documentation for policy research, contract management, claims management, and other legal, compliance, and risk matters.
  • Respond to discovery requests by gathering relevant information.
  • Manage FamilyCare's contract management system, including uploading contracts and maintaining user profiles.
  • Oversee FamilyCare's incident reporting system.
  • Conduct research and analysis as required.
  • Proofread various documents, including policies, contracts, and reports.
  • Maintain the General Counsel's task list and calendar.
  • Provide updates on changes in laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to support the Staff Training Program.
  • Assist in the administration of risk management, compliance, and legal projects, ensuring effective communication with FamilyCare leaders and staff.
  • Develop and implement educational programs on risk management and compliance.
  • Conduct organization-wide risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
