This role is tailored for an attorney with 1-4 years of experience to become part of the Medical Malpractice/Long-Term Care team in our Buffalo, NY office. This team advocates for physicians and other healthcare providers, as well as hospitals and healthcare facilities, in various medical malpractice litigation matters. We seek a bright, highly motivated, and proactive attorney with exceptional writing skills, who is prepared to work independently and engage directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior litigators to formulate defense strategies for medical malpractice cases;
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, memos, briefs, and other correspondence;
  • Analyze medical records and related documentation;
  • Represent clients in court proceedings;
  • Participate in depositions, conferences, hearings, and all facets of medical malpractice litigation;
  • Engage with medical experts for case support;
  • Conduct thorough legal and medical research;
  • Prepare and file motions;
  • Work effectively within a team environment;
  • Maintain client interactions and relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Admitted to practice in New York (or pending admission after passing the bar);
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical malpractice or healthcare litigation.

  • Strong capabilities in legal research, writing, and verbal communication;
  • Ability to build client relationships and instill confidence;
  • Proficient in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks;
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities;
  • Quick problem identification and resolution skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP is proud to provide a comprehensive Total Rewards package, including extensive health and wellness benefits, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and a supportive workplace culture. The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000, reflecting our good faith estimate of the starting salary at the time of posting. Additionally, this role is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus. The actual salary offered will be determined based on various job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, and market data.
