This role seeks an attorney with 1-4 years of experience to become part of the Medical Malpractice and Long-Term Care division in Buffalo, NY. The team advocates for physicians and various healthcare providers, including hospitals, in all aspects of medical malpractice litigation. We are in search of a diligent, proactive attorney with exceptional writing abilities, who is comfortable engaging with clients and capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to formulate defense strategies for medical malpractice cases;
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, memos, briefs, and correspondence;
  • Analyze medical records pertinent to cases;
  • Represent clients in court proceedings;
  • Engage in depositions, hearings, and all facets of litigation;
  • Work with medical experts to support case arguments;
  • Conduct thorough legal and medical research;
  • Prepare and file motions;
  • Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues;
  • Maintain client interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice in New York (or pending admission);
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical malpractice or healthcare litigation.

  • Proficient in legal research, writing, and verbal communication;
  • Ability to build client relationships and instill confidence;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Excellent time management capabilities;
  • Quick problem-solving skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP offers a comprehensive rewards package, including health and wellness benefits, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and a supportive workplace culture. The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000, reflecting a good faith estimate of the starting salary at the time of posting. Additionally, this role is eligible for performance-based discretionary bonuses. The final compensation will be determined based on various non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications, experience, and market data.
