This role is designed for an attorney with 1-4 years of experience to become a vital part of our Medical Malpractice/Long-Term Care team in Buffalo, NY. This team represents a diverse array of healthcare providers, including physicians and hospitals, in all facets of medical malpractice litigation. We seek a motivated and proactive attorney with exceptional writing capabilities, who is comfortable with client engagement and possesses the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to formulate defense strategies for medical malpractice cases;
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, memos, briefs, and correspondence;
  • Analyze medical records pertinent to cases;
  • Represent clients in court proceedings;
  • Engage in depositions, hearings, and other litigation activities;
  • Interact with medical experts to gather insights;
  • Conduct thorough legal and medical research;
  • Prepare and file motions;
  • Work effectively within a team environment;
  • Maintain client relationships through regular interaction.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice in New York (or pending admission after passing the bar);
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical malpractice or healthcare litigation.

  • Ability to build client rapport and instill confidence;
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously;

Compensation and Benefits:

Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP is committed to providing a comprehensive rewards package that includes health and wellness benefits, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and a supportive workplace culture. The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000, reflecting our good faith estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. Additionally, this role may qualify for a discretionary performance-based bonus. The actual salary offered will be determined based on various job-related factors, including qualifications, experience, and market considerations.
