Principal Systems Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading reliability support to the design team, performing design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and de-rating analysis. You will also be responsible for allocating reliability requirements, performing failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and identifying fault modes and responses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and de-rating analysis.
- Allocate reliability requirements, perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and identify fault modes and responses.
- Develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
- Utilize industry tools to conduct reliability analysis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 1+ year of engineering experience.
- Ability to perform various reliability engineering related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for identifying fault modes and responses.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in Reliability analysis.
- Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics.
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design.
- Combining hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware and systems.
- PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure.
- Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
