Job Summary:

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Reliability Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position will be responsible for leading reliability-related tasks, including design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reliability engineering, experience with modeling and simulations, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead reliability support to the design team through design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and de-rating analysis.
  • Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and identify fault modes and responses.
  • Identify critical items and document controls.
  • Support design reviews and provide technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
  • Utilize industry tools to conduct reliability analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 1+ year of engineering experience.
  • Ability to perform various reliability engineering-related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and FMEA for identifying fault modes and responses.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in reliability analysis.
  • Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics.
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design.
  • Combining hands-on reliability analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems.
  • PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure.
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Active US Govt. DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI access at time of application.

Salary Range:

$107,300 - $160,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
