Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a highly skilled Food & Nutrition Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support for our food and nutrition initiatives, including Hope Express, Medically Tailored Meals, and the Fresh Choice Food Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks for Hope Express and Medically Tailored Meals
  • Conduct street outreach services to engage with the community and promote our programs
  • Coordinate intake and program eligibility for food and nutrition programs
  • Maintain gifts-in-kind donation records and assist in the coordination of the Fresh Choice Food Program
  • Operate and maintain the mobile kitchen trailer and assigned vehicle
  • Serve on the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team and coordinate assigned volunteers
  • Participate in weekly case conference meetings and program and agency trainings as assigned
  • Maintain accurate participant records in various information management systems and generate reports as requested
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain a highly detailed and organized filing system
Requirements
  • Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
  • High degree of confidentiality and ability to endorse and promote The Salvation Army's mission
  • Minimum two (2) years of food service, social service, or related experience preferred
  • Computer literate in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent telephone etiquette and presence
  • Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate a computer and process written, visual, and/or verbal information

This position is funded by a grant and its continuation is contingent upon the renewal of the grant funding. Employment in this role is dependent on the ongoing availability of funding, and there is no guarantee of continuation beyond the current funding period.
