Position Overview:
As a Lead Educator for the First Class Pre-K Program, your primary objective will be to implement a recognized early childhood education curriculum while creating a nurturing classroom atmosphere that promotes academic and personal development. You will play a crucial role in helping young learners acquire the essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for a solid educational foundation.

Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field is required.
  2. Valid Teaching Certification from the Alabama State Department of Education in the relevant instructional area is mandatory.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Principal or designated Supervisor.

Background Verification:
In accordance with Alabama law, successful candidates will need to undergo a background check, including fingerprinting, conducted by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must be current and not exceed ten years in age.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Familiarity with state educational standards and district goals related to early childhood education.
  2. Understanding of student academic progress and instructional objectives.
  3. Awareness of the school’s curriculum aligned with its mission and objectives.
  4. Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
  5. Ability to design and execute lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and tailored to individual student needs.
  6. Capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  7. Proficient in utilizing technology, including email, internet resources, and Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Knowledge of school policies, administrative procedures, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  9. Possess the physical and emotional stamina to fulfill job responsibilities.
  10. In-depth understanding of the First Class Pre-K Program Quality Assurances.
  11. Comprehensive knowledge of Alabama's Developmental Standards for Preschool Children.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate student capabilities in relation to educational goals and desired outcomes.
  2. Create lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  3. Design age-appropriate class activities and lesson presentations that cater to the interests and abilities of all students.
  4. Establish and uphold standards of student behavior to foster a conducive learning environment.
  5. Identify student needs and collaborate with other professionals to address learning challenges.
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  7. Communicate instructional expectations and student progress to parents and students effectively.
  8. Ensure the confidentiality of student records and performance data.
  9. Participate in school planning, faculty meetings, and other collaborative efforts.
  10. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and administrative staff.
  11. Exhibit strong communication skills in interactions with parents and the community.
  12. Contribute to co-curricular programs and community engagement initiatives.
  13. Model professional behavior and work habits that align with student development goals.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of certification.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Students First Act of 2011. The Alabama Department of Education reserves the right to fill this position through the transfer of a qualified internal candidate.
  • Note: Under the Students First Act of 2011, tenure or non-probationary status will not be granted during the initial year of employment if hired after the designated cutoff date.
Employment Duration: 187 days (full academic year)

Evaluation Process: Conducted in accordance with established Board policies and administrative guidelines.

Compensation: Salary is determined based on the Alabama Department of Education Salary Schedule.
