Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Physical Education Teacher to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an approved elementary education program and establishing a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans based on district and state courses of study to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students.
  • Assess student abilities and identify areas for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Use technology to enhance instruction and communication.
  • Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings, and other school system groups.
  • Model appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development goals established for students.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in the area of instructional responsibility.
  • Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certification in the area of instructional responsibility.
  • Knowledge of state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to develop and implement lesson plans based on district and state courses of study.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Ability to use and manage technology.
Working Conditions

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.

Benefits

Expected employment: 187 days (full year). Salary range: according to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule.
