Job Overview

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager with extensive experience in overseeing engineering and design initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years in relevant project management roles, including at least 4 years of direct experience in managing complex projects.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate under the guidance of senior management, including Program Managers and Directors.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, providing direction and oversight to other Project Engineers or Managers as necessary.
  • Initiate projects by preparing comprehensive project initiation documents that outline work scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Assist in defining project scope and developing a work breakdown structure to meet client expectations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date project status in the corporate reporting system to ensure responsiveness to client inquiries.
  • Lead project implementation, ensuring that objectives are met and all processes are adhered to, while coordinating detailed phases of engineering and design work.
  • Monitor project expenditures and performance metrics to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Maximize project profitability through effective budgeting, resource utilization, and cost control measures.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed of project developments and potential issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams to mitigate any impacts on schedule and budget due to changes.
  • Engage in business development by promoting Mesa's capabilities to current and prospective clients.
  • Foster relationships with key clients to discuss ongoing and future projects, evaluate performance, and identify new opportunities.
  • Participate in the recruitment and development of project management and engineering staff.
  • Ensure timely project close-out and documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of engineering service contracts and industry-standard agreements.
  • Ability to mentor and manage project management and technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various project management software.
  • Commitment to promoting and adhering to safety standards.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office setting with occasional field visits to remote locations, requiring physical mobility over varied terrain.
