Job Overview

Position Summary: The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while enforcing all safety and security policies within the Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence to compliance and reporting requirements of relevant regulations, maintaining enforcement of all safety and security policies.
  2. Communicate with the Center Director regarding any incidents that may impact the Center, its students, or personnel.
  3. Assist the Center Safety Officer in conducting monthly inspections of fire safety systems and organizing fire drills.
  4. Oversee the control and proper use of assigned equipment.
  5. Guarantee compliance with security directives, training, and established work schedules.
  6. Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of all necessary forms and reports from security shifts.
  7. Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas to ensure compliance with directives and efficient execution of responsibilities.
  8. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with law enforcement agencies, ensuring prompt reporting of criminal incidents.

Additional Duties:

  1. Develop performance standards and monitor staff work performance within the department.
  2. Exhibit behaviors that align with the company’s vision and values.
  3. Implement social and employability skills consistent with established standards.
  4. Promote safe work practices to mitigate potential hazards and maintain a secure work environment.
  5. Participate in all required training sessions.
  6. Adhere to all company and Center policies and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with the team to achieve performance goals.
  8. Integrate employability skills into all aspects of career development.
  9. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
  10. Evaluate employee performance consistently and in a timely manner.
  11. Ensure timely submission of all required reports.
  12. Operate Center vehicles for student transportation as needed.
  13. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, along with three years of experience in corrections, security, or law enforcement, including supervisory experience.

OR

An associate degree or equivalent in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, combined with five years of experience in safety, security, or law enforcement, including supervisory experience.

Special Qualifications: Required training or certification in areas such as physical security, corrections security, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, or military service. Preferred experience includes working with youth or young adults in educational settings.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer operation proficiency.
  • Ability to document staff accountability for compliance issues.
  • Calm and mature handling of emergencies.
  • Tactful in responding to student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
  • Basic understanding of local laws and enforcement agencies.

Licenses or Certificates: A valid Regular Driver License is required. Certification in CPR and first aid is also necessary.
