Educational Support Specialist

AMIkids Sandoval operates a multi-service group home dedicated to providing emergency transitional living and supportive services for young males aged 13-18 who have been referred by protective services, juvenile justice, parental units, or tribal social services due to concerns of abuse, neglect, delinquency, substance use, or other at-risk issues.
The Educational Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that youth remain engaged in their academic pursuits while fostering positive advisory relationships. This position employs a diverse range of tools to captivate youth interest while adhering to the assigned curriculum and implementing various educational support strategies tailored to meet individual needs. Collaboration with educational staff is essential to monitor academic progress and provide necessary support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee youth engagement with online learning platforms,
- Utilize an array of instructional materials to enhance academic instruction,
- Serve consistently as a mentor and positive role model for youth,
- Implement effective classroom management techniques and report significant behavioral issues to site administration,
- Facilitate daily or weekly advisory sessions to track youth academic performance,
- Provide intervention strategies to assist youth with course pacing and comprehension,
- Engage with youth and their families to address challenges in curriculum participation,
- Support workforce development initiatives and career pathways for eligible youth,
- Empower youth through effective incentive programs and monitoring techniques,
- Adopt a hands-on approach when tutoring youth,
- Ensure compliance with program implementation requirements,
- Maintain consistent work habits, including punctuality and regular attendance,
- Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification from a nationally recognized organization,
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with national standards,
- Participate in crisis intervention and physical restraint training as mandated by state and contractual obligations,
- Actively engage in day trips and special activities involving recreational sports, facility maintenance, and equipment management,
- Assist with special projects and other assigned duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree preferred,
- Two (2) years of experience working with middle or high school-aged youth.
