Educational Support Specialist

Position Overview

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Lead Educator in developing curriculum, overseeing, and instructing individuals in a learning environment; assists in delivering and reinforcing educational concepts.
  • Provides assistance to the educator to ensure a secure and engaging learning atmosphere while preparing for daily activities. Responsibilities include interacting with and facilitating activities for the individuals in the designated classroom.
  • Facilitates classroom activities in the absence of the Lead Educator and may communicate with guardians regarding the progress of the individuals.
  • Guides, instructs, and mentors staff, student employees, interns, and/or volunteers engaged in related tasks; may take part in the recruitment of volunteers as necessary.
  • Performs various job-related tasks as assigned.
Additional Employment Conditions

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license.
  • All regular positions in this classification are represented by a labor union and are subject to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • The selected candidate must undergo a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history assessment.
  • Must pursue and/or maintain current Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, with the first course to be initiated within a specified timeframe from the date of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification, with initial certification to be completed within a specified timeframe from the date of hire.
  • Must complete the required entry-level training course or equivalent within a specified timeframe from the date of hire.
  • The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Compliance with the influenza vaccination requirement is mandatory for employees providing services in clinical areas.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; a minimum of one year of experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with early childhood education licensing requirements.
  • Experience with accreditation standards.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience in curriculum implementation.
  • Experience in child assessment.
