About the Role

Citizens Property Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Underwriter to join our team. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing risk for our policyholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate property insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and pricing decisions.
  • Utilize underwriting tools, technology, and resources to ensure compliance with approved underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Provide technical advice and support to agents and other stakeholders to promote consistent risk-based underwriting philosophy.
  • Monitor trends and provide feedback for process improvement opportunities.
  • Handle underwriting-specific Tier II telephone calls and vendor interactions.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret insurance coverage, policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Proficient in Property and Casualty Technical Knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of experience in property insurance operations, claims, agency, or call center.
  • Knowledge of Citizens UW procedures, manuals, policy administration, and workflow.
  • CPCU designation or IIA Certificate in General Insurance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration or risk management.
