Position Overview

The Battery Plant Engineering Department at Toyota is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer - Battery. This role focuses on overseeing construction initiatives (including expansions, renovations, and new projects) across our North American facilities. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager - Battery, this position is crucial in ensuring that projects meet the established quality, cost, schedule, and safety standards for our Battery manufacturing operations.

The role involves significant travel, estimated at 75% during project execution, with reduced travel during the planning phases. On-site presence is expected Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work based on project demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering efforts for new Battery Manufacturing projects in North Carolina.
  • Establish design criteria for building construction (mechanical or civil/structural).
  • Provide expert technical assistance to North American Manufacturing Centers regarding building design and construction, while developing and maintaining related standards.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for industrial buildings and associated systems, supporting local facility teams and project management submissions.
  • Leverage expertise in project management, construction, and building design to ensure adherence to quality, cost, schedule, and safety benchmarks.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with industrial power systems (including switchgear and power distribution).
  • Proven background in building design and construction.
  • Familiarity with industrial buildings and related systems.
  • Demonstrated project management experience for industrial construction projects valued at over $5 million.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems (such as piping and compressed air).
  • Experience with industrial structural steel systems.
  • Background in large-scale civil installations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and database management.
  • Familiarity with tools like Bluebeam and Autodesk Build.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
